MINNEAPOLIS — The Vikings quarterback shuffle will continue this week after the team benched starter Josh Dobbs last week against the Raiders.

The team announced that rookie Jaren Hall will serve as the backup option to Nick Mullens.

Hall was the team's third-round draft pick this year and saw very limited action against the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons after Kirk Cousins went down in October.

The former BYU QB completed 5 of his 6 attempts against the Falcons in his first career start before leaving the game with a concussion in the first quarter.

With Hall named as the backup, Josh Dobbs has been bumped down to the third-string/emergency QB role.

Dobbs took the league by storm, helping lead Minnesota to consecutive wins, but the "Passtronaut" has come back down to Earth as of late, resulting in O'Connell benching him in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game.

Nick Mullens was announced as the starter on Wednesday.

The Vikings traded for Mullens just before the 2022 regular season. He appeared in four games last season, completing 21 of 25 passes for 224 yards, one touchdown and an interception. Mullens, who is in his seventh year in the NFL, has spent time with the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and Raiders.
