EAGAN, Minn. — One day after trimming their roster to 53 players, the Minnesota Vikings snuck some of their top preseason playmakers onto their initial practice squad.

However, it won't include former first-round pick Lewis Cine, who was signed to the New York Jets' practice squad.

Rookies Jeshaun Jones and Bo Richter were each signed to the practice squad after making splashes in the preseason. Jones had five catches for 90 yards and a touchdown in the preseason, including a 71-yard score against the Cleveland Browns. Richter tied for the most sacks on the team after recording two in the preseason opener against Las Vegas.

Tight end Sammis Reyes, of Talcahuano, Chile, was also signed through the league's International Player Pathway Program (IPPP), which allows players from outside the U.S. or Canada to play in the NFL.

The Vikings were also able to sign a pair of running backs, which is notable since they only kept two — Aaron Jones and Ty Chandler — on their 53-man roster. The two practice squad backs are DeWayne McBride and Myles Gaskin. Minnesota was also able to add a few veterans to its practice squad, including defensive back Bobby McCain and tight end Robert Tonyan. N'Keal Harry, a former first-round receiver turned tight end, was also signed.
