Vikings Justin Jefferson won't play in SNF matchup against Broncos

The Vikings have been undefeated in Jefferson's absence as new quarterback Josh Dobbs acclimates to the offense.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Vikings will have to keep emphasizing the connection between Josh Dobbs and T.J. Hockenson for another week after the team officially ruled out Justin Jefferson for their bout against the Denver Broncos on Sunday night.

The team also announced it has elevated linebacker Anthony Barr to the active roster ahead of its primetime matchup on Sunday Night Football.

Jefferson was listed as limited on the team's injury report every day of the week leading up to Saturday's status update.

He became eligible to return from injured reserve ahead of the team's Week 11 game against the New Orleans Saints, but Vikings officials have maintained a cautious approach to the star wide receiver's return.

The Vikings have been undefeated, going 5-0, in Jefferson's absence as new quarterback Josh Dobbs acclimates to the offense.

While Jefferson won't play, the elevation of Anthony Barr to the active roster is welcome news to Vikings fans who have been clamoring for the linebacker's return in the new and aggressive defensive scheme of coordinator Brian Flores.

The Vikings also announced quarterback Nick Mullens and cornerback Joejuan Williams will join Barr on the active roster this week, while guard Chris Reed has also been downgraded to out.
