Former Minnesota Vikings great and Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss revealed he's been "battling something internally" over the past week.
Moss opened ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" explaining why he would be wearing sunglasses during the show, saying he's been battling something over the past week. He didn't provide many details about what was going on but explained that he had "some great doctors around me" and that he was "feeling great."
"It's not being disrespectful because I'm on television," Moss explained. "I'm battling something. I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all, and thanks for the prayers."
Moss also posted earlier Sunday morning on his Instagram page just prior to the show starting, asking men to "do your checkups, get your bloodwork done, and we'll work through it, all right?"
"Your boy is gonna get through it," Moss said. "I have a great team of doctors and a great family around me."
After his on-air explanation, Moss's Sunday NFL Countdown teammates put on their own glasses in a sign of solidarity.
Social media lit up with posts supporting the Hall of Fame wideout in his battle.
Moss spent seven seasons with the Vikings before being traded to the Oakland Raiders in 2005. He spent a handful of years in New England before returning to Minnesota for a short stint in 2010 but only played four games before going to Tennessee. He ended his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers.
Moss played in 113 games with Minnesota and is second in franchise history in receiving yards (9,316) and receiving touchdowns (92). He was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and has been an analyst for ESPN since 2016.
