MINNEAPOLIS — Fans finally got to witness the first "Bank Vault."
Minnesota Vikings running back Arron Jones bounced outside for a 34-yard touchdown run and he immediately launched himself into the crowd for the first-ever Bank Vault at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The celebration is a play on the popular Lambeau Leap in Green Bay, where Jones spent the first seven years of his career.
The score put the Vikings up 7-0 early in the first quarter against Detroit after the Lions were stuffed on a fake punt following a quick three-and-out. Quick starts for Minnesota is becoming a trend as its outscored opponents 58-3 in the first quarter, including 10-0 on Sunday against the Lions.
Jones was limited in practice throughout the week, dealing with a hip injury he sustained on Oct. 6 in London against the New York Jets. On Sunday, the team announced he would be active and he wasted little time making an impact.
Sunday's contest is crucial for both teams as the winner will stand atop the NFC North.
