EAGAN, Minn. — In most sports, success comes with an emphasis more on team than individual.
The Minnesota Vikings will play together as a unit this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, but the effort will also feature some individual statements that are hard to miss.
More than four dozen players and coaches will sport custom-designed shoes as part of the NFL's "My Cause My Cleats" campaign, which supports causes and charitable organizations they are passionate about.
On Wednesday, the Vikings released a gallery of the colorful and charismatic kicks the team will lace up for Sunday's game. They range from Justin Jefferson's tribute to the Northside Achievement Zone to Christian Darisaw's red and yellow shoutout for The Ronald McDonald House and Brian O'Neil's high-topped, purple shout-out to the Autism Society of Minnesota (AUSM).
Following the game, players and coaches can raise funds for their chosen organization by selling their shoes to the highest bidder on NFL Auction.
Since 2016, the My Cause My Cleats campaign has provided a game-day platform for players to express their commitment to community causes. The 2023 player-led campaign will help fans learn more about their favorite players, the issues they stand for beyond football and work they are doing to foster a greater sense of community between fans and players.
