ST. PAUL, Minn. - While the Wild continues to evaluate and trim their roster in preparation for the regular season, there was apparently one addition they couldn't resist.
The club announced Thursday that they have claimed forward Chris Porter off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers.
Porter had signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers in August after spending parts of six seasons with the St. Louis Blues. He played with Zach Parise for two years at the University of North Dakota and one at Shattuck St. Mary's, where the two became close friends.
Porter was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the ninth round (282nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In his NHL career Porter has notched 11 goals, 16 assists and 33 penalty minutes. He will wear sweater No. 7 with Minnesota.
