Wild forward Matt Boldy listed as 'week-to-week' with upper-body injury

Boldy was injured in the third period of Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Wild will be without forward Matt Boldy as he recovers from an upper-body injury he suffered during Saturday's loss to Toronto.

On Monday, General Manager Bill Guerin indicated that Boldy will be "week-to-week" after leaving Saturday's game in the third period.

"Tough, obviously, but it happens to every team," said Wild coach Dean Evason of Boldy's injury. "We need to step up in both him and (Jared Spurgeon's) absence, obviously. It will be a really good test for us."

Spurgeon, who is also the team's captain, is also listed as week-to-week after getting injured in preseason.

Boldy is coming off his best season with the Wild, scoring 31 goals in 81 games during the 2022-23 campaign. The 22-year-old shined particularly bright when star Kirill Kaprizov missed a month last season with an injury. Boldy amassed 13 goals and six assists in the 13 games without Kaprizov.

This season, Boldy had a point in each of the first two games, including a goal Saturday against the Maple Leafs.
