3 Minnesotans headed to Paris on U.S. Paralympics swimming team

Mallory Weggemann, Natalie Sims and Summer Schmit will be among 33 swimmers representing the U.S. at the Paralympics in Paris later this summer.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota will be well represented in the pool at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

Three Minnesota women will be part of Team USA after securing their spots during the U.S. Paralympics swimming trials at the University of Minnesota over the weekend.

Eagan's Mallory Weggemann will be heading to her fourth Paralympic Games in Paris, after previously bringing home three gold, one silver and a bronze medal from her previous appearances in London, Rio and Tokyo.

Natalie Sims of Edina will also be heading to Paris after some home pool advantage during the trials at the University of Minnesota. A five-time world championships medalist, Sims will be representing Team USA for the third time at the Paralympics.

Stillwater native Summer Schmit also makes a return bid to the Paralympics in the pool, after previously representing the U.S. in Tokyo.

The 2024 Paralympics take place Wed, Aug 28, 2024 through Sun, Sep 8, 2024 in Paris, France.
