MINNEAPOLIS — While Minnesota is getting plenty of national attention this week for the U.S. Olympic Trials in gymnastics happening in Minneapolis this weekend -- downtown has even dubbed itself "Gymnastics City USA" -- it's not the only place in town where elite athletes will be punching their tickets for Paris.

The U.S Paralympics Team Trials in swimming are taking place Thursday through Saturday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus. After three days of competition in the pool, the U.S. Paralympics swimming team will be unveiled in a special Naming Ceremony Sunday morning at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Competitors include Minnesota's Mallory Weggemann, who will have a home pool advantage as she swims at her alma mater in her quest to qualify for her fourth Paralympic games in Paris.

Here's a look at the competition schedule:

  • Session 1: Thursday, June 27 - 9-11 a.m.
  • Session 2: Thursday, June 27 - 5-7 p.m.
  • Session 3: Friday, June 28 - 9-11 a.m.
  • Session 4: Friday, June 28 - 5-7 p.m.
  • Session 5: Saturday, June 29 - 9-11 a.m.
  • Session 6: Saturday, June 29 - 5-7 p.m.
  • Naming Ceremony: Sunday, June 30 - 9:30 a.m.

Tickets are still available online, priced at $20 per session or $100 for the full event. More information can be found on the U.S. Para Swimming website.

If you can't make it to the U to watch in person, events will be streamed on Peacock, with Saturday's finals and Sunday's team announcement on CNBC.
