MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Wild announced they'll be hosting the St. Louis Blues in the 2021 NHL Winter Classic.
The match-up, scheduled for Jan. 1, 2021, was announced during intermission between the first and second periods of the Blues/Wild game Sunday evening.
Tickets have not gone on sale yet, but according to the Minnesota Wild website, season ticket members, suite and premium seat holders will have the first chances to buy them. Non-season ticket members can place a deposit on tickets for the Classic, giving them priority over the general public.
The match-up will be the first Winter Classic for the Wild, and only the second NHL regular-season outdoor game.
"The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic is about taking hockey back to its outdoor roots - and there is no better place to celebrate the incredible strength surrounding our game than in Minnesota," said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. "The Minnesota Wild organization and their fans in the Twin Cities and across the state have been anxiously awaiting the opportunity to host the NHL's New Year's showcase and we are thrilled to be bringing next year's game to Target Field."
The 2021 game will be the 31st NHL regular-season outdoor game, and the 13th Winter Classic game.
