MINNEAPOLIS - Saying it was in the best interests of himself and his family, Jim Peterson resigned his position Friday as Associate Head Coach of the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx.

Peterson, a former Gopher and 8-year NBA veteran, spent eight years as a Lynx assistant working in scouting, game day strategy and player development. He was named Associate Head Coach before the 2016 season, and played a key role in helping the Lynx win three WNBA Championships.

"I very much enjoyed the time that Jim and I shared together over the last seven seasons,” said Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve. “Jim fully immersed himself into the WNBA and worked extremely hard to become the very best assistant in the league. He was committed to helping us build a culture of winning that has allowed us to enjoy a historic run of success during his time with the Lynx."

"I’m forever grateful to this team, in particular Glen and Becky Taylor, Roger Griffith and Cheryl Reeve, for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Lynx assistant and associate head coach," Peterson countered. "There are countless others to thank, including the players, coaches, personnel staff, support staff, trainers and fans."

Jim Peterson will continue in his role with the Minnesota Timberwolves Fox Sports North broadcast team, a job he has maintained for 19 seasons.
