MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Lynx are two games away from becoming WNBA Champions. Unfortunately for their fans, the team is potentially only one game away from a season-ending loss.
Lynx Head Coach Cheryl Reeve broke down Napheesa Collier's play and shared her thoughts on recent head coach firings in the WNBA in an afternoon press conference in Target Center on Friday.
Reeve said Collier has experienced a natural evolution as a veteran.
"When she sees something that doesn't go the way it should be, from the officiating standpoint. She's a leader and she's someone who can communicate on behalf of her teammates," said Reeve.
Collier's phenomenal play is a big reason the Lynx have progressed to the WNBA Championship.
The recently-anointed WNBA Defensive Player of the Year will look to avenge the Game 3 loss against NY Liberty.
The Lynx had built a substantial lead in that game before the Liberty clawed back and ultimately a stepback dagger from Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu sealed the loss.
Reeve also addressed coach firings in the league after three WNBA head coaches were fired over the past few weeks.
"It's not a sign that they're not good enough, it's a sign that maybe the franchise is unprecedented times and they feel like they need something different," said Reeve.
The Lynx are scheduled to take on the Liberty for Game 4 at 7 p.m.
