Lynx fans remain excited despite WNBA Finals Game 2 loss

Even though the Lynx lost game 2, fans are excited to watch the Lynx in Game 3 on their home court.

MINNEAPOLIS — Fans flocked to A Bar of Their Own in Minneapolis to watch Game 2 of the WNBA Finals between the Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty.

The bar reached capacity an hour before the game. Some fans got there as early as 11 a.m. to snag a seat.

Friends Kathy Moore, Carol Anderson, and Sue Bremer watched game 1 at A Bar of Their Own and returned for Game 2.

“The crowd here is electric,” Moore said. “In fact, in Game 1, I lost my voice I was screaming so loud.”

“They can put the biscuit in the basket absolutely without question,” Anderson said.

“Everyone here is all excited and everybody here is into the game,” Bremer said.

Dan Rotach and his grandson Cash Beard watched Game 1 at home but wanted to experience Game 2 surrounded by other fans.

“When I watched that game the other night, I thought it’s done, I’ll go do something else, and then I stayed with it and it was just a wonderful game,” Rotach said.

Beard loves watching the Lynx and seeing how supportive people are of the team, and how supportive the players are of each other.

“Just like their team spirit…they have a feeling [this year],” he said.

The Lynx were down at the half, but fans were confident they would bounce back.

“We’re a comeback team, we saw that last game. They can do it,” Anderson said.

“They always do good in the third and fourth quarter,” Beard said.

“I really believe in us in the second half. We’re a second-half team. The Lynx are going to come back, Moore said.

“I think they play for each other. They’re really a team group of women who are playing for each other,” Bremer said.

A Lynx loss wasn’t the outcome fans wanted, but Maggie Nagle wasn’t surprised to see the Liberty win Game 2.

“I still feel good. That makes sense for New York to come back and be like ‘You’re not going to do that on our home court’ but you know we got a game Wednesday, and I feel confident in the Lynx,” she said.

Nagle is looking forward to Game 3 where she’ll be cheering on the Lynx at Target Center.

“I feel like with the energy at home and stuff I really believe in our team,” she said.
