WATCH: Wild crash caught on camera in Brooklyn Center

MnDOT cameras were rolling at the intersection of Highway 252 and 70th St. when a Mazda SUV made contact with a Jeep, barrel rolled and smashed into a traffic light.

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — A driver reportedly suffered only minor injuries after a wild crash in Brooklyn Center that was caught on camera Monday morning.

State Patrol spokesperson Lt. Jill Frankfurth says the incident happened at the intersection of Highway 52 and 70th Ave. N. when the driver of a Mazda SUV made a left turn and made contact with a Jeep, then was rear-ended by a Toyota Camry.

The collision sent the Mazda into a barrel roll, sending the SUV airborne before it hits a traffic light and returns to an upright position.

Video of the crash caught by a MnDOT traffic camera shows the driver climbing out of the mangled Mazda and taking out their cell phone to call 911. Lt. Frankfurth says both that person and the driver of the Jeep were taken to North Memorial Medical Center for evaluation.

It is unclear whether any citations will be issued in connection with the incident.
