Driver killed after walking onto highway following crash in south metro

The Minnesota State Patrol says the 36-year-old man from Plymouth hit the ditch, rolled his vehicle and then wandered out onto Highway 169 in Scott County.

SCOTT COUNTY, Minn. — A man is dead after crashing his vehicle and then walking out onto a busy highway early Tuesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the victim was traveling south on Highway 169 near 145th St. W. in Scott County just before 12:15 a.m. when he left the roadway, hit the ditch and rolled his Mitsubishi Lancer. Investigators say the driver then exited the vehicle and walked out onto the roadway, where he was struck by another vehicle headed southbound.

Troopers say the 36-year-old man from Plymouth did not survive the incident.

The driver of the SUV that struck the man - a 44-year-old woman from Henderson, Minnesota - was not injured, and investigators say alcohol was not involved in the collision.
