Heads up: I-35E project to close northbound lanes in east metro

Concrete repair work will shut down northbound I-35E from Little Canada to Columbus.

ST PAUL, Minn. — Yep, it's summer. There are cones, lane diversions and closures across the state of Minnesota.

One closure is happening this weekend on a heavily-used east metro interstate. Here are the details.

I-35E — East metro

There will be directional closures on heavily-used I-35E between Little Canada and Columbus for concrete repair. Northbound I-35E will be closed and detoured between I-694 and the I-35E/I-35W split. Motorists will be directed to northbound I-35W for the detour.

The closures will start Friday at 10 p.m. and wind up by 5 a.m. Monday. Southbound I-35E will experience similar closures next weekend.

Downtown St. Paul

There's a lot happening in downtown St. Paul this weekend, and with tons of road work underway, motorists need to be aware and ready to adjust on the fly. Irish Fest on Harriet Island is expected to bring thousands through downtown, along with three St. Paul Saints home games and the Lowertown Farmers Market.

Currently under construction and either completely closed or with lane restrictions are:

  • The Kellogg/Third Street Bridge is closed
  • Minnesota Street
  • Old 6th Street
  • Washington Street
  • St. Peter Street
  • Market Street
  • Robert Street
  • Kellogg Boulevard

Highway 55

If you drive on highway 55 near 169, crews are on day three of work on the interchange in Plymouth and Golden Valley. Ramps are closed intermittently, and will continue to be until August 16th. Highway 55 is also being resurfaced from old Rockford road in Plymouth to General Mills Boulevard in Golden Valley.

Dinky Town

SE. 4th street, which is a one way thoroughfare, has been reduced to one lane between Oak Street and I-35W as ew pavement, intersections, and protected bike lanes are being put down. This will last through October.
