DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. — A portion of Highway 52 south of Hastings has been reduced to one lane after a deadly crash on Saturday.

Minnesota State Patrol said a 2006 BMW 325 sedan was driving north on Highway 52 when it veered off to the southbound lanes of traffic and was hit head-on by a Freightliner dump truck.

The debris from the crash then hit a Buick that was on the highway behind the dump truck.

The driver of the BMW, 29-year-old Gabriel Christopher Lilja, was killed in the crash.

Troopers said the dump truck's driver, a 39-year-old from Welsch, Minnesota, was hurt and treated at Regions Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The 66-year-old woman driving the Buick that was struck by debris was not injured.

According to MnDOT, Highway 52 is currently down to one lane in both directions between three miles north of Cannon Falls and Rosemount. Southbound, the road is one lane between Rosemount and one mile south of Hampton.
