CHISAGO CITY, Minn. — Highway 8 is reopened in Chisago City after a fatal crash, according to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.
The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. A Ford Focus was headed west on Highway 8 near 276th Street, when a GMC Sierra headed east crossed the center line and struck the Ford, according to the state patrol.
The state patrol says a 35-year-old Coon Rapids woman died in the crash. She was driving the Ford Focus.
The driver of the GMC Sierra was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed at 275th Street and the sheriff's office asked the public to avoid the area and find alternate routes home. It was reopened later in the evening.
