I-35W to close for bridge removal

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says both directions of Interstate 35W will close between I-694 and the west junction of I-35W and Highway 10 this weekend for demolition of the Ramsey County Road H bridge.

ROSEVILLE, Minn. - Don't say we didn't warn you.

A bridge removal project will close down a short stretch of heavily used interstate this weekend. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says both directions of Interstate 35W will close between I-694 and the west junction of I-35W and Highway 10 this weekend for demolition of the Ramsey County Road H bridge.

The bridge crosses I-35W on the border of Arden Hills and Mounds View. Drivers will encounter lane closures on I-35W beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, June 3 as construction crews begin preliminary work for the bridge removal. The interstate will close in each direction from 10 p.m. Friday, June 3 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 6.

The following detours have been posted while the bridge is being removed:

• Northbound I-35W: Detour east on I-694 and north on I-35E.
• Southbound I-35W (north of the I-35E/I-35W split in Columbus): Detour south on I-35E and west on I-694.
• Southbound I-35W (south of the I-35E/I-35W split in Columbus): Detour west on Highway 10, south on Hwy 65/Central Avenue and east on Ramsey County Road 10.

The County Road H bridge will remain closed and detoured throughout the project. There will be occasional lane closures and full closures of I-35W as work progresses.When completed late this fall the new County Road H bridge will improve access across I-35W and improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians.
