BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Drivers who regularly use I-35W in the south metro will need to plan ahead for next weekend (Aug. 11-14) after MnDOT postponed closures that were originally scheduled for this weekend (Aug. 4-6).
MnDOT is now planning to close portions of I-35W in both directions starting at 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, weather permitting, as part of ongoing construction projects in Bloomington and Richfield.
Southbound I-35W will be closed between Highway 62 and 106th Street, including all southbound ramps.
Northbound I-35W will close between I-494 and Highway 62 for the full weekend; an additional section will close between 106th Street and I-494 overnights from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Drivers using northbound I-35W can detour along I-35E to Highway 77 to Highway 62. Southbound drivers will be detoured to Highway 77 to the 35W/35E split.
Construction closures will also continue at the intersection of I-35W and I-494; the southbound exit ramp from I-35W to westbound I-494 will remain closed through November as crews work on the ramp.
