ST PAUL, Minn. — Work on three major road projects will close stretches of heavily-used metro highways this weekend, with the potential to snarl up your weekend plans if evasive action isn't taken.
In the northeast metro all lanes of Highway 36 eastbound will be shut down between Edgerton Street and I-694 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The work is part of a resurfacing project that is also designed to improve drainage and pedestrian accessibility. Once complete, the 12-miles of Highway 36 between Little Canada and Stillwater will have new pavement and better ride quality.
Work continues on the I-35W project in Minneapolis this weekend, with all northbound lanes shut down between Highway 62-Crosstown and I-94 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will be repairing and resurfacing pavement.
During the closure motorists should follow the signed detour using westbound Highway 62, northbound Highway 100 and eastbound I-394 and I-94 to access I-35W.
Finally, northbound lanes of Highway 77 in the south metro will be blocked off between Highway 13 in Eagan and I-494 in Bloomington from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. The work is part of a larger resurfacing project.
Motorists should follow the posted detour using northbound I-35E, westbound I-494 and northbound Hwy 77.
Drive safe, and have a great weekend!
