ST PAUL, Minn. — With winter gradually fading into the rear-view mirror, Minnesota's other notorious season is about to ramp up: road construction.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) revealed the 2022 slate of major road projects across the state on Thursday, including three major freeways in the Twin Cities metro area.
MnDOT is planning a total of 184 road and bridge projects statewide in 2022, along with 51 additional projects involving airports, water ports, and transit systems.
"Each of these projects represents an investment in a more efficient and reliable transportation system for all people," MnDOT Interim Commissioner Nancy Daubenberger said in a statement. "As always, safety is MnDOT’s top priority – so we urge motorists to pay attention to signage in work zones, slow down, and put away distractions behind the wheel. Everyone, including our hardworking road and construction workers, deserves to get home safely."
