A crash between a motorcycle and a vehicle Sunday afternoon left two people dead and questions about what exactly led to the collision.

The Minnesota State Patrol website says the incident happed just before 1:30 p.m. on Highway 55 near Paynesville. A Harley Davison touring motorcycle with two people aboard was eastbound on 55 when it collided with a 2004 Buick LeSabre.

Details on what factors caused the crash are scarce, but the driver and passenger on the motorcycle - 53-year-old William James Clough and 49-year-old Melissa Anne Clough, both from Mora - did not survive. William Clough died on the scene, while Melissa Clough passed away at St. Cloud Hospital from her injuries.

The driver of the Buick, a 60-year-old man from Long Prairie, was uninjured.

Assisting the State Patrol on the crash scene were Paynesville police and fire, deputies from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, Centra Care ambulance and LifeLink Air.
