ST PAUL, Minn. — One person is dead after a crash Thursday evening at Lower Afton Road and Morningside Circle in St. Paul.
The St. Paul Police Department have since identified the woman to be Sulekha M. Abdi, of St. Peter.
Officials say the crash occurred at 6:25 p.m. Thursday and included two vehicles carrying eight people. One woman died at the scene and police say others are critically injured.
Police say a white Pontiac G6 with six people inside turned onto Lower Afton Road from Morningside Circle and hit a red Pontiac G6 head on. Two people were in the red vehicle. The two passengers in the red vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Paramedics transported the following injured to the hospital:
- A 29-year-old man is in critical condition;
- A 25-year-old man is in critical condition;
- A male of unknown age is in critical condition;
- A 19-year-old woman is being treated for non-life threatening injuries;
- A 30-year-old man is being treated for non-life threatening injuries
According to a press release from the department, an 18-year-old woman was ejected from one of the vehicles and died at the scene.
Investigators are still trying to figure out who was driving the white vehicle, and if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.
