EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Eden Prairie police are "actively investigating" the circumstances of an accident Saturday evening on a busy stretch of road that left a pedestrian dead.
Officers were dispatched just before 8:45 p.m. to the intersection of Flying Cloud Drive and Anderson Lakes Parkway on reports of a motor vehicle accident. They arrived to find a woman, identified as 25-year-old Holly Chunmei Bergstrom, on the ground critically injured.
Bergstrom was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died. The Medical Examiner's Office listed her official cause of death as multiple blunt force injuries.
Investigators say the vehicle that struck Bergstrom was driven by a 17-year-old female traveling south on Flying Cloud Drive. Early information indicates that Bergstrom had just exited a vehicle that was stopped in the northbound left-hand turn lane on Flying Cloud when she was hit, and that speed, distraction or driver impairment do not appear to be factors in the incident.
Eden Prairie police were assisted on the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, and continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
