Brooklyn Park Police are looking for a potential hit-and-run driver after a woman was struck and killed while walking Monday morning.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Police in Brooklyn Park are searching for what they believe is a hit-and-run driver after a woman was found dead in the street Monday.

Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley says officers were dispatched just before 6:50 a.m. to the intersection of Humboldt Avenue and Meadowwood Drive on reports of a person down in the street. When squads arrived they found an adult woman who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

She was declared dead on the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol and Hennepin County Sheriff's Department are helping with the investigation.

Bruley says investigators believe the original vehicle that hit the victim did not stop. Police are looking for help from the public in identifying a school bus that may have been involved in this fatal incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Brooklyn Park Police.
