MINNEAPOLIS — Winter blew in this weekend, leaving icy roads and tough driving conditions in its wake.

Minnesota State Patrol was busy from Friday morning into Saturday morning due to the weather. On Saturday morning, troopers reported that they responded to 216 crashes and 14 with injuries, plus two that were serious or fatal, including a fatal crash between a semi and a pickup truck in Lyon County.

Officials also said there were 65 vehicle spin-outs and a jackknifed semi was reported.

While the snow has stopped falling, the cold weather will continue to complicate travel for drivers.

Watch for lingering scattered snow showers on Saturday which could create slick roads in parts of west-central Minnesota. A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for the I-94 corridor between Alexandria and Moorhead.

Road conditions are expected to worsen as you travel southeast across the region and snow-covered roads will be problematic as you drive further into southeast Minnesota and southern Wisconsin.
