MINNEAPOLIS — Interstate 35W reopened early Tuesday morning after several hours of cleanup from a tanker truck crash that spilled asphalt tack onto the highway near northeast Minneapolis.
Emergency crews spent several hours cleaning it up after the spill Monday night. Authorities said one person was hurt in the crash but said the injuries were "non-life threatening" in a social post.
It happened near Exit 22 at Industrial Blvd. The spillage appears to have run down about a 1/4 mile of the freeway from where the tanker rolled.
Traffic cameras showed a hazmat team at the crash site.
The State Patrol said the tanker was carrying 15,000 gallons of asphalt tack, which is used to bond asphalt layers.
Video of the crash shows cars swerving then the tanker losing control and slamming into the median -- spilling across the roadway.
