ALBERTVILLE, Minn. — A family is in the market for a new vehicle after theirs was crushed by a semi on I-94 near Albertville Wednesday night.
MnDOT traffic cameras showed two vehicles off the interstate, one in the eastbound median and the other on the shoulder shortly after 8 p.m. when the incident occurred.
The Minnesota State Patrol website says the 2020 Buick Enclave was on the shoulder when two semi trucks passed by, one of them veering off I-94 and directly into the SUV. The driver of the semi, a 34-year-old man from Coldwater, Michigan, was not injured.
Troopers on the scene reported a minor injury to a passenger in the Buick, but it is unclear if that was suffered in the first crash or the second. The 38-year-old St. Cloud woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
State Patrol spokesman Lt. Gordon Shank tells KARE 11 the driver of the semi was cited for following too closely. He says information on the incident is currently limited because it is under investigation.
