BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Whether your weekend plans include going to the pumpkin patch or the Mall of America, give yourself some extra time as several routes will be closed in Bloomington and across the Twin Cities metro.
Here's a look at what routes will be closed and what detours you can take.
I-494 in Bloomington
If you're heading to MSP Airport or the Mall of America this weekend, construction will slow your route and block several parts of Interstate 494 in Bloomington.
Westbound I-494 will close between Highway 77 and I-35W from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Eastbound I-494 will close between Highway 100 and Highway 77.
The construction project is intended to build E-ZPass lanes on 494 from Highway 100 to I-35W in each direction and add a new ramp at the I-35W and I-494 interchange. Additionally, crews will replace bridges and add a new pedestrian bridge at Chicago Avenue.
This project will extend through November as the first of four phases in the MSP Airport to Highway 169 area, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). For more information, click here.
Highway 55 in Plymouth and Golden Valley
Westbound 55 was closed between I-494 and Highway 169 on Oct. 23. It will reopen at 10 p.m. on Nov. 1.
Drivers can detour using southbound Highway 169 to westbound I-394 to northbound I-494.
Highway 169 in Plymouth
This roadway will close in both directions from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. During that time, crews will paint the 36th Avenue bridge, according to the city of Golden Valley website.
