MINNEAPOLIS — Several thousand people lost power, while fans at the 3M Open took shelter as another round of storms passed through the Twin Cities Friday afternoon.

The storm prompted a weather delay at the TPC Twin Cities golf club in Blaine that lasted nearly two hours as lightning, strong winds and hail swept through the area. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of more than 50 mph at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

There have also been several reports of hail, and multiple uprooted trees in Eagan as a result of the strong winds. Also in Eagan, the Minnesota Vikings, who began training camp this week at TCO Performance Center, moved their practice session indoors due to nearby lightning.
