Sven Explains: Differences in degrees can change snow totals

Are you wondering why the metro got less snow than expected?

What a difference one or two can make...one or two degrees, that is!

While most of the metro saw 4 to 6 inches of snow, just 30-40 miles west of the metro saw 8 to 10 inches of snow.

That's all because of the difference of a couple degrees (F) temperature.

We had the same amount of water equivalent as areas to the west (0.6"-1.0"), but several hours of rain cut back snow totals.

So, that's why the metro saw less snow than we expected!
