Delays, cancellations at MSP amid winter storm

Sunday's winter storm is already causing cancellations at MSP Airport, as the Twin Cities metro is expected to get 6-12 inches of snow by the time it's over.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota travelers are having better luck Monday as flight cancellations and delays are lower than Sunday, when about 8 inches of snow spoiled some travel plans.

According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, 40 incoming and outgoing flights are canceled and 9 delayed as of 7 a.m. Monday. These numbers are a vast improvement from Sunday afternoon, which had 79 outgoing flights canceled and 92 flights delayed.

If you're picking up travelers from the airport on Sunday, also be prepared to check in frequently with the airport, as right now, 50 incoming flights have been canceled and 108 are facing delays.

A spokesperson for MSP told KARE 11 that the airport's "full resources are being activated and will be on site until after the storm has passed."

According to KARE 11's weather team, the Twin Cities metro is expected to see anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow by the time the storm passes.
