MINNEAPOLIS — A line of isolated storms hit the Twin Cities metro Saturday, bringing with it heavy rain, strong winds and the potential for hail.
According to KARE 11 Meteorologist Jamie Kagol, a band of storms moved southeast over Minnesota and into Wisconsin through the evening Saturday.
Kagol said storms like these have historically been known to produce heavy downpours, strong winds and potentially hail, with the ability to damage trees and cause power outages.
In one West St. Paul neighborhood on Saturday evening, KARE 11 crews found a tree that had been split in half, causing police to block the intersection of Cherokee Avenue and Dodd Road.
Police also tweeted on Saturday evening that Robert Street between Emerson and Thompson Avenues was closed because of flash flooding. The road reopened later that night.
And in the west metro in Howard Lake, KARE 11 Reporter Deevon Rahming said trees and power lines had been knocked down.
As of 10 p.m., Xcel Energy reported more than 700 customers in and around the metro were still without power. On Sunday morning it appeared all customers had their power restored.
