More than 300 flights canceled at MSP Wednesday due to blizzard conditions

As of Thursday morning, more than 300 flights had been scrapped and dozens more delayed due to snow and white-out conditions.

MINNEAPOLIS — In what is typically one of the busier travel days of the year, the snow has made things difficult not just on the roads, but also through the air.

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport canceled more than 300 flights Wednesday due to the strong winter storm that hit the Twin Cities metro.

According to airport officials, 313 flights were canceled and another 51 flights were delayed due to blizzard conditions.

As of 4:30 a.m Thursday, only 66 total flights were canceled at MSP. Eleven others were delayed.

KARE 11 meteorologist Ben Dery says the heaviest snow was forecast to fall over the metro between 4 and 7 p.m. Wednesday. This, combined with wind gusts over 40 mph, made travel conditions extremely difficult.
