GRAND PORTAGE, Minn. — While rain has been causing problems for many river communities across the state, it's created an "otherworldly" environment in Grand Portage.
High water and below-freezing temperatures have been a recipe for an astonishing setting at Grand Portage State Park, specifically parts of the High Fall Trail.
Minnesota State Parks and Trails tweeted out photos Wednesday afternoon of the park, along with a warning for visitors to expect "challenging and wide-ranging conditions" over the next few weeks.
All park trails are open, but because of the conditions High Falls Trail is not wheelchair accessible, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
Access to the park is free, but overnight camping or lodging isn't allowed. For more information on Grand Portage State Park and the current trail conditions, click here.
