MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota State Patrol is reporting statewide crash numbers for the start of the big snowstorm on Tuesday.
Troopers say there were 68 crashes in Minnesota from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, including four accidents with injuries. Officials also reported 26 vehicle spinouts and no jackknifed semis.
By comparison, this past Monday morning, state troopers responded to more than 150 crashes and 48 spinouts statewide.
The road conditions are expected to get more difficult over the next couple of days.
A winter storm warning is in effect and a blizzard warning for part of the state will go into effect Wednesday afternoon as the wind begins to increase.
Another round of snow is forecast to move in later Wednesday afternoon into the evening hours.
The forecast calls for an additional foot of snow through Thursday morning.
That would bring the region's snow totals between 10 to 16 inches.
