GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The northern lights may be visible tonight.
Back on May 22, a sunspot pointed at Earth released a flurry of solar flares. This activity is currently hurling through space, and is forecast to reach Earth tonight.
The KP Index, which measures the strength of the aurora, is forecast to hit 6. If that holds true, the northern lights would be visible over the upper Midwest.
We are currently under a geomagnetic storm watch.
The peak activity is expected in the hours after sundown.
If you have a clear view north, take a look and you might see a cool show.
