Weather Warn Day is a phrase you'll now be hearing from the KARE meteorologists when we expect weather to impact plans for many of us in a big way.
Within our regular forecasts we will mention when a particular day qualifies as a Weather Warn Day, and you will also see a special logo appear for that day on our 7-Day forecast graphic.
The criteria for a Weather Warn Day varies by season. In the warmer months, a likely chance of severe weather, a washout rain day or extreme and dangerous heat would warrant a Weather Warn Day designation.
In the cooler months extreme cold, a winter storm or heavy snow during a commute would qualify.
Whatever the reason, the Weather Warn Day designation is meant to call special attention to specific day as a heads-up to KARE 11 viewers. Stay tuned to the forecast that day for updates as it nears, especially if you have big plans.
The KARE 11 meteorologists will always communicate the reason a day is given a Weather Warn Day logo on the 7-Day forecast, to keep you in-the-know and help you plan ahead for whatever your day holds.
