Minnesota State Fair attendance records broken two days in a row

The first two days of the fair eclipsed previous single-day attendance records.
Fair organizers hope to build on last year's attendance of 1.8 million.

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — If you were at the Minnesota State Fair this Thursday or Friday, you were very, very far from alone.

On Thursday, 138,875 people got together at the fair, setting a new attendance record for opening day. This eclipsed the previous opening day attendance record set in 2019 by about 5,500 visitors.

Then on Friday attendance climbed even more. There were 171,233 people at the Minnesota State Fair, up nearly 6,500 from the last time the record was set for a first-Friday just last year.

The most attended day at the Minnesota State Fair ever? That was in 2018, when 270,426 people were at the fair for its second Saturday.

If you are going to the fair this weekend, remember to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. An Excessive Heat Watch has been issued for Sunday and Monday, which will see both sunshine and humid conditions.
