FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. — With feel-like temperatures expected in the mid-90s on Sunday and Monday, EMS Medical Director for Regions Hospital, Dr. Aaron Burnett is urging Minnesota State Fair goers to stay hydrated.
"You walk so much, you eat so many salty foods here, which is good for the soul, but not always necessarily good for the body," Burnett said.
The official Minnesota State Fair app will show you where you can find all of your favorite goodies, but it also tells you important information, such as where the 23 water refill stations are located.
"The biggest thing we see is dehydration at the fair and heat exhaustion" Burnett said. "We really encourage people to use sunscreen, take advantage of that shade, take advantage of those air conditioned buildings, and just remember the fair is not a sprint, it's a marathon."
Dr. Burnett says some of the signs of dehydration are exhaustion or feeling tired and faint. If you do feel unwell while at the fair, there are medical aid stations on both the east and west sides of fair grounds.
If you like the heat, then this is your weekend to attend the fair. But if you don't, meteorologist are predicting temperatures in the low 70s for next weekend.
