NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. — The Ice Castles annual winter attraction will be moving to a new home in the Twin Cities metro area for 2020.
In a news release, Ice Castles announced it will team up with Ramsey County Parks & Recreation to bring the Ice Castles attraction to Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton.
“We are thrilled to bring the magic of Ice Castles back to Minnesota this winter,” Ice Castles CEO Ryan Davis said in a statement. “Long Lake Regional Park is a great, convenient location just 20 minutes north of both downtown Minneapolis and downtown Saint Paul. The scenic park on the banks of Long Lake also makes for the perfect backdrop for our winter experience.”
Construction is expected to begin in November, with the company's "ice artisans" hand-placing up to 10,000 icicles daily. The completed, illuminated castles are expected to be open to the public starting in early January, weather permitting.
The Ice Castles were previously hosted in Stillwater, Excelsior, and Eden Prairie in past years. The company also hosts similar attractions in Wisconsin, Colorado, New Hampshire, Utah, and Alberta, Canada.
