River Bluff Humane Society in Red Wing is home to about 30 animals.
That includes two German Shepherd Rottweiler mixes. Freida and her mother Ruby have been there the longest.
"Yes our amazing girls," said Cassandra Conroy, the shelter manager.
She and her colleagues grew to love them both.
"The moment they entered our shelter, they captured your heart," said Conroy.
Both have made numerous appearances at adoption events. The community was also attached to them.
"Kind of our unofficial mascot," said Conroy.
Because they are mother and daughter, a bonded pair, Freida and Ruby had a tough time finding a forever home. That is until Sunday, when Zach Wegner took a big step.
"Just the sweetest dogs," said Wegner, who visited them the past few weeks and decided the connection was meant to be. On Sunday Zach signed the adoption papers.
"Officially adopted," said Conroy.
Ruby and Freida now have a forever home.
"I can't believe it," said Wegner.
As they left the shelter, the community was there to say goodbye.
For Cassandra it was a bittersweet moment.
"A little sad because they're not going to be here when we come in tomorrow so it's going to be a little different," said Conroy. "But they're going to a great home and they're going to be so well loved which they deserve."
