MINNEAPOLIS — A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 372 months (31 years) in prison for his involvement in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in July of 2019.

Andre Owens pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and admitted to being one of the shooters involved in the death of 16-year-old Quayshun Felton.

At Tuesday’s sentencing, Owens addressed the court, saying, “I don’t think what I’ve done is OK … I take full responsibility for my actions,” according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

The shooting occurred July 19, 2019, in the area of Colfax Avenue North and 30th Avenue North. When police responded, they found Felton lying unresponsive in the street, according to the criminal complaint.

An autopsy revealed Felton's cause of death to be a single gunshot wound to the head.

Officials reviewed dash cam footage from a vehicle near the shooting and were able to identify two suspects on bicycles as the shooters.
