St. Paul woman arrested after man found dead in apartment

Police say they found signs of foul play when investigating the apparent homicide.

ST PAUL, Minn. — A St. Paul woman was arrested after a man was found dead inside an apartment in the Como Park neighborhood Sunday morning.

Police said they were investigating another case early in the morning at the victim's apartment on the 600 block of Front Avenue, but when they arrived, nobody responded to their knocks on doors or windows.

Officers entered the apartment and found a deceased man, according to police.

Police said there were signs of foul play.

Officers interviewed people who may have been with the victim Saturday night into Sunday morning, and said that through their investigation they were able to identify a suspect.

A 37-year-old woman was booked into the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as Steven Dennis Malone, 65.

This is St. Paul's 25th homicide of 2019. Another homicide later Sunday night was the 26th. The weekend violence made 2019 the deadliest year in St. Paul in at least a decade.
