SOUTH ST PAUL, Minnesota — Two men have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in South St. Paul last Friday.

The Dakota County Attorney announced Tuesday that Andrew Michael Fisher, 20 of Cambridge, and Tre Manuel Iglesias, 22 of St. Paul, were each charged with one count of second-degree intentional murder and one count of second-degree unintentional murder.

The shooting victim was 26-year-old Avontae Troy King of South St. Paul.

On Friday, Nov. 24, around 4:50 p.m., South St. Paul police officers responded to the shooting and found a wounded King lying near the shoulder of the road in the 400 block of 3rd Ave. S.

King was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the criminal complaint, Iglesias reported to law enforcement that he was present during the shooting.

Iglesias told police that Fisher asked him for a ride to a home in South St. Paul. While inside the home, Fisher took a bag of marijuana that was on the table and ran out of the home, according to the criminal complaint.

Iglesias told authorities that he followed Fisher out of the home and King was behind both of them. Iglesias said "Fisher, while standing on the sidewalk near the grassy part of the curb, shot the male (King) and they left in Iglesias' vehicle," according to the complaint.

"I'd like extend my condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Mr. King for their great loss," said Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena in a news release.

Bail was set for Fisher at $1 million and for Iglesias in the amount of $750,000.

The men are scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Dakota County Judicial Center in Hastings.
