MINNEAPOLIS — St. Paul police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday night at an apartment west of downtown.
Officers arrived at the building on the 300 block of Dale St. N and found a man in a hallway with what appeared to be puncture wounds to his chest. He was unconscious and barely breathing. First responders provided aid until paramedics arrived to take the man to Regions Hospital, where the man later died.
St. Paul police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster says the suspect - a 64-year-old man - was arrested at the scene. Investigators said they believe the suspect and victim both live in the same apartment building and got into a fight before the fatal stabbing.
Ernster told reporters that homicide investigators are looking at video and evidence recovered from the scene.
