UPDATE: Police catch aggressive dogs reported on the loose in Brooklyn Park

Authorities had warned the public not to approach the husky-wolf mixes after they reportedly attacked a homeowner and other animals, then charged officers.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn — Police say they have captured two reportedly aggressive dogs after they attacked a homeowner and pets in Brooklyn Park.

Brooklyn Park police updated a community alert they sent out Tuesday, saying the two husky-wolf mixes were caught and placed into quarantine.

BPPD, officers were called to the 10700 block of West River Road at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after a complaint about the dogs escaping their yard and then behaving aggressively. Officers located the dogs in the area of Sunset Trail, but the animals "began to charge" at them, resulting in one officer firing a round. The dogs then ran westbound towards Nobel Parkway, officials said.

"The dogs should be considered aggressive and no one should try to approach them," police warned in an email sent Tuesday afternoon. Authorities added that additional residents reported seeing the dogs and said they were aggressive towards them as well.

Both dogs are 1.5 year old husky/wolf mixes. One, Anika, has red/brown/black fur. The other, named Sequoia, has gray/brown/white fur.

In Brooklyn Park, city statutes say an animal may be quarantined for a period of ten days to observe its behavior and determine a course of action.

This is the third dog-related incident in Brooklyn Park in recent weeks. On July 19, a 3-year-old was fatally attacked by two dogs on Brooklyn Park Drive. On July 23, a 7-year-old was attacked by a dog on the 7500 block of Janelle Ave. N.
