BCA identifies 3 Minneapolis police officers who shot and killed armed man

Authorities said Enoch Langford, Abdirizaq Mumin and Chaz Wilson fired their department handguns.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has identified three Minneapolis police officers who shot and killed a man with a gun Wednesday night in the Longfellow neighborhood on the city's south side.

Authorities said officers Enoch Langford, Abdirizaq Mumin and Chaz Wilson fired their department handguns after responding to a report of a person being threatened by a man with a gun.

When officers arrived, the BCA says the man, later identified as Michael Ristow, tried to run away from the police. The officers began to chase Ristow while telling him he was under arrest. The release goes on to say that Ristow came up to a fence line and "turned toward officers with a gun in his hand." All three officers fired, and struck Ristow. The officers provided medical care but Ristow eventually died at the hospital. None of the officers were injured.

According to the news release, Wilson has five years of law enforcement experience, Mumin has four and Mumin has "almost two years." They are all on leave, which is standard for a shooting investigation.

The BCA said cartridge casings and two handguns were recovered at the scene of the shooting which was in the 3400 block of Hiawatha Avenue. The guns were later determined to be stolen. Authorities said all three officers were wearing body-cams "that captured portions of the incident." BCA agents are reviewing all available videos as part of their investigation.
